Concealed Carry Holsters
Welcome to my blog about concealed carry holsters.
With more and more law abiding citizens applying for concealed carry permits, the need for good, solid information about concealed carry holsters becomes more important. If you have spent any time holster shopping, you will have undoubtedly found that there are thousands of different types and styles of gun holsters on the market today.
Today, gun holsters are made from different materials and are designed for specific uses in addition to concealed carry. To further complicate matters, most every gun holster maker proclaims their holsters to be the best choice above all others. Most back these claims up with quite a bit of marketing and marketing rhetoric.
The sad truth is that not all gun holsters are created equal nor do they all perform equally. Note that the gauge of a holster’s performance is completely subjective as it really depends on the opinion of the user. What I consider to be the best holster for my uses, may not even come close to being the best model for your particular needs.
Before you start your search for a concealed carry holster, I would strongly recommend that you take a moment and realistically evaluate your needs. By that I mean, exactly how and when will you be carry a weapon?
Once you have defined what your uses will be, you will also need to think about the following issues:
- What handgun will you carry? This is generally the point of a great debate, but I’m bringing this up as the size of the handgun will play a direct role in your choices in concealed carry. A larger frame weapon can’t be carried in a pocket holster or on the ankle.
- What will the holster be made from? While leather is the norm, there are also some newer materials that make excellent gun holsters.
- What will be your preferred method of carry? Do you prefer inside the waistband, outside the waistband, or some other carry method?
Once you have an idea of what you will require, you will be in a much better position to start the buying process.
Hopefully, some of the information that is presented here will provide you with some help in making that decision.
