Mitch Rosen Express Line

Posted by 5593907a on September 19, 2008

As a custom holster maker, Mitch Rosen has an excellent reputation in the gun holster industry. So much so, that it takes quite a long time to get a Mitch Rosen holster. Not as long as some custom makers, but long enough for you to get tired of waiting.

As a possible solution, Mitch introduced the “Express Line” which is basically a slightly watered down version of his standard line. By leaving off some of the features found on the standard line, Mitch can get an Express model turned around in a few weeks versus the 3-4 months it sometimes takes for the deluxe versions.

In order to reduce costs and turnaround time, Mitch left off the hand boning, which is the most labor intensive and expensive aspect of a custom holster. According to Mitch, all his holsters that have boning (or blocking as he calls it) are boned by hand the old fashion way. This adds a significant amount of time to the over all delivery time. By removing the boning and limiting the colors, Mitch was able to get the Express line down to a very reasonable 3-4 week turnaround time.

Some people may be thinking that the boning impacts the performance or fit of the holster? It really doesn’t as the Express line takes just as long to break-in as a deluxe Rosen holster. To me, the Express line doesn’t
look quite as nice as the boned models, but it doesn’t cost as much either.

To be completely honest, if you weren’t familiar with the Rosen line and bought an Express model instead of a regular Rosen; you wouldn’t notice too much difference as fit and performance will be the same. If you happen to be a fan of Mitch’s work or very familiar with his line, you would pick up on the difference pretty quick.

In terms of price and quality, I would definitely rate the Express line as a winner. You are getting all the quality and performance of a regular Mitch Rosen holster at a fraction of the cost.

Mitch Rosen produces an outstanding line of gun holsters, belts, and mag carriers. He is arguably recognized as one of the top custom holster makers in the world. For more information on Mitch Rosen
